Our Story
His Version
While Sarah technically serenaded me with song as I was just a rising first-year at UNC's Carolina Kickoff in 2010, our story really starts a decade later on New Year’s Eve of 2020. We met at a closed coffee shop for a date that didn't need to be so early in the morning, but I could tell that it really might be something with the sweet, cute girl who laughed at (some of) my jokes. Early on as we spent time together and got to know each other's lives, friends, and families, I knew that we had a real chance. Our relationship grew fast and when we realized our values aligned perfectly - it was signed, sealed, and delivered.
Since then, I have happily become a proud cat dad and we have lived together in DC for several years. We continue to go to new places and try new things while enjoying the comforts and happiness of everyday life together - supporting each other at all times, with our hearts intertwined now and forever into the future.
Her Version
In December 2020, I matched with a cute UNC alum on Hinge and opened with the best line I could think of - “Go Tar Heels!” We met a few days later on the earliest first date ever at a coffee shop that ended up being closed for New Year’s Eve. We pivoted and took a walk in the neighborhood and I learned that he was allergic to cats (uh oh), funny and laid back, and someone that I wanted to spend more time with.
Over the last four years, we’ve blended our lives and friends seamlessly to the point that it’s hard to remember a time without him in my life. Thanks to Claritin, Fred got over his cat allergy and adopted Abbi as one of his own. He continues to be my biggest supporter, my favorite comedian, and my best friend, always down to plan a new trip across the world or binge a new TV show. It’s hard to know what life will hand us but I know it’ll be better as long as he’s there.
